Location: Civic Theatre
Time: 7.30pm

The show that stormed into the finals of Britain’s Got Talent and now a ‘West End’ smash is back to mark its 20th anniversary in spectacular style.

Appearances on various subsequent TV shows have turned what set out as a cult show into a household name – taking the extreme to the mainstream, its TV credits now boast the X Factor, The Slammer, Daybreak, Fairground Attractions, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Body Shockers, Fake Reaction, This Morning, Ant and Dec, The One Show and A Royal Command Performance.

Last year saw another giant leap for the show when it began a series of dates in London’s West End, becoming the first circus to appear in a West End Theatre for 100 years.

The latest incarnation ‘The Night Of The Zombie’ is set in 2020, in a decrepit and corpse ridden London, plagued by a swamp of Zombies – ruled by the undead and climaxing in an awesome flaming apocalypse.

The story twists and turns with grisly murders and sensational shock’s – all interwoven with some of the greatest and most bizarre circus acts on earth, sword swallowers, knife throwers, daredevil balancing acts, astounding aerialists, a demon dwarf, a Guinness World Record holding ‘hairculian’ hair hanging beauty, sinister sisters, fire limbo acrobats and much more.

Performed by an almighty cast, with a forked tongue firmly in each cheek and the devil driver rock ‘n’ roll of Dr Haze and The Interceptors from Hell.

If Quentin Tarantino had directed Cirque Du Soleil then you would be only half way there.

Take a sneak peak at what’s in store at The Circus of Horrors. WARNING - not for the faint-hearted!

Join us for the highly acclaimed hit musical comedy based on the Academy award winning 1968 satirical film by Mel Brooks, the legendary US Comedian, Actor, Composer, Screen Writer and Film Director.

…Set in New York in 1959, Theatre Producer Max Bialystock was once the king of Broadway, but recently all his shows have closed on opening night. Max’s life looks as though it will turn around when he’s visited by the downtrodden accountant Leo Bloom, who proposes a scheme tailor-made for Producers who can only make flops: raise lots more money than you need and then make sure that the show is despised. No one will be interested in it, so they can pocket the surplus.

The plot develops to this end, when Max and Leo produce a Broadway musical called ‘Springtime For Hitler’ written by escaped Nazi Franz Liebken. Then they get the insanely flamboyant Roger De Bris to direct. Finally, they hire as a lead actress the loopy Swedish bombshell Ulla (whose surname has over 15 syllables!). As opening night draws near, what can go wrong? Well, there’s no accounting for taste…

This production features lots of musical numbers to accompany the hilarious story – audiences will be delighted throughout an entertaining evening.

Adapted by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan.

The Producers

Date: Tuesday 28 April to Saturday 2 May
Location: Civic Theatre
Time: 7.15pm
Produced by: Phoenix Operatic Society
Price: Full price £11.50, Concessions £10.50

Phoenix Operatic Society return in 2015 with one of the most popular Broadway musicals of all time – Gypsy. The story is based on a book by Arthur Laurents, suggested by the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee.

Mama Rose Hovick has big plans and the future all mapped out for her daughters. Baby June is the innocent ‘star to be’ appearing in numerous shabby Vaudeville stages across America in the 1920’s. However the quiet, unconfident older sister Louise must decide if she wants to live in her shadows or give up everything to be a star.

Times are changing, the popularity of the much riskier style of Burlesque is on the rise and the audience is now also expecting to see more of their stars than ever. This musical features classics – Let Me Entertain You, Everything’s Coming Up Roses, Gotta Have A Gimmick and the truly show stopping song Rose’s Turn.

Gypsy is a moving, emotional and a spectacular evening of entertainment. It goes behind the scenes of the crumbling music halls to the growing decadence of the new Burlesque theatres and the fame and fortune that awaits Louise, as she becomes… Gypsy Rose Lee!

Music by Jule Styne.
Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

Shone Productions are delighted to be returning to Rotherham Civic Theatre for Christmas 2015-16 with the most magical pantomime, Cinderella.

Cinderella has always dreamed of leaving her wicked Stepmother and her dull life as a servant to meet a handsome Prince. After the announcement that Prince Charming is going to hold a royal ball, it seems she may get her wish after all, but with the Ugly Sisters around -who knows what will happen. Maybe with the help of Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother and a generous helping of fairy dust, and a glass slipper, perhaps Cinderella’s wish could come true and she will live happily ever after?

There is only one way to find out, come and see this rags-to-riches fairy tale with spectacular scenery, stunning costumes, brilliant song and dance routines, loads of audience interaction, hilarious jokes and plenty of booing for the Ugly Sisters.

The stars of the show will be revealed soon for this fabulous production – so get your tickets now and don’t be late for the ball!
